Research will be focused on issues and interest that falls within the organization’s strategic plan.  Wherever possible, Center for Community Advancement’s research projects will cut across traditional boundaries.  Our research style is inclusive, drawing on the expertise and insights of academics, practitioners and members of the community.  By providing a platform where a variety of stakeholders can come together to address shared concerns.  Through research, CCA seeks to develop innovative approaches to address shared concerns.

All CCA’s research will be subject to a rigorous review and a quality control process.  This ensures that all the research meets the highest possible standards of review, reliability and relevance to the public debate.

Research is an important first step towards empowering individuals and community to realize their potential to contribute to a just society, where their view and opinion are treated with respect.  The process of empowerment also involves working to develop a sustained functional community through the development of a strong culture. In such a functional community, leaders plan for and advance the culture and wellbeing of their community.

Through advocacy and litigation, CCA will focus on issues affecting the African Diaspora, which include, but is not limited to: education, voter rights, economic justice, immigration, and criminal justice, etc. CCA will work closely with the local law schools, encouraging law students to consider a career in public interest law by providing internship programs, and eventually, scholarships. CCA will also develop a radio program that will inform, educate and entertain the Community.
